"And the only way to get rid of a shadow is to turn off the lights, to stop running from the darkness and face what you fear, head on."

Taken at my very close friend's drama recital. Took my camera out after a long long time. Kind of went OTT with the picture capturing. Might have seen most of the play through the lens but none the less, a really good evening spent there. Have some more pictures to post. This one here might be my favorite among all of the 800 pictures. ( I told you I had gone crazy!) I love the lighting, the Ramayana feel to it,  and the fact that it reminded me of this quote I had hearted a year back.

Guess who's getting all three of the hunger games books? ME ME ME *wink wink* I cannot wait to get that big brown package mashed around with that well known flipkart tape with a lovely "handle with care" sign carefully put on because obviously there's bloody important stuff inside.
And then I hear the books look lovely and there's supposed to be a hunger games t shirt too inside. What are you kidding me? 3 more days. The bloody perks of people who live in the metros and get books in 2-3 days and people like me just have to wait and tick of dates on calendars. :(
Anyway BIG BLOGGY shout-out to Peebeaaaaa! Thank you for telling me. I had lost all hope on getting the books in a reasonable parents-not-giving-me-the-look price. :P

Will tell you when they reach our place, and I am officially out of facebook again. ( Done that before. Didn't work out to say the least. Had my butt back on the very next day. Here's to trying once again. Bleh!)

Memories

I erased my slate of dust
Of stories of our past
The smog filled the air around
I waved my hand through it fast

Sunday nights at the park
The wind blowing through our hair
Watching the moon shine above
We used to walk without a care.

The countless pictures you took of me
The messages I re-read and saved
The yellow polka dot you loved me in
Your smelly jacket that I craved.

The times we bunked literature classes
And ran away to the beach
We drew our names side by side
On the wet sand with our feet.

These dusty memories screamed of you
Your skin, your words, your smell
But now i have a new chalk in hand
To doodle new stories to tell.

Shubho Naboborsho!!

SHUBHOO NAVOBORSHOOOOO People!

translation: Shubho is Happy, Nava is new and Borsho is year which translates to Happy Bengali New Year. :)
Yeah...as if I'm the perfect person to teach you bengali! :/

And I took hold of Ria's The Time Traveller's Wife...and had a splendid funn time at her house organizing all the nooks of her huge wardrobe and then had a pura-bengali lunch with food on coconut leaves. Oh the lovely traditions!

I now have knowledge of every dress, shirt, trousers she owns and can tell you where she has them in her wardrobe...quite something ryt :P
Got this picture today. Credit : Ria again. Thank you sooo much for taking the pic. I love it :)
My best buddies :) Can't get any better!
This was sometime this year when we were all punished for bunking class. :P

Oh and I had MISTI DOI. And I wanna play football.

Big Fat Post Below :)

Shadowed Verses

She slips out of her blankets
Hearing them whimper asleep
Her shadows cross dark corridors
Door to door, she creeps.

She’s unstoppable now,
All her heart now desires
To write under the candle light
Her passion high on fire.

She runs through her words
Draws stories in her head
They sleep in peace knowing
Naima has not gone ahead.

She cares of no one now
She leaves her qualms behind
Naima Ali, the upcoming writer
Is the picture she has in mind.

She remembers how they would torture her
Strangle her passion to death
She remembers the pain, the fear, the sweat
The obstacles, the walls they would set.

The pain she feels, the anger in her
She puts into her lines
Like a burning hearth that ignites the soul
Her words shout out her cries.

This is the Naima she dreams of
This is the Naima she strives to be
Through verses of love, she’ll topple weak walls
Which veiled her face, from the world to see.

Yesterday I had this "huge" emotional upsurge; very weird I tell you. Makes you go waaaaaaaaaa....but then brings out the poet in me which is a plus point. Made me write 2 poems and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out to be :P Ok I'm done with my haughtiness, so Enjoy and show some love through your comments :P

And I had NO idea Naima means tranquil. I had heard the name before and instantly loved it. Hence Naima Ali :)
