Lost Postcard

I will be standing somewhere you don’t know
I will be looking out from behind the door
You might not see me, you might not care
But you will know, you never have to stare.

As hard I try to break free of you
As hard I pine to finish what we have
But then the music plays and you lay your arm
And I gently slide back into your wicked charm.

Through all this time I’ll talk to myself
Whisper words of encouragement, of not letting this go on
You my boy will sit in your princely attire
While I dread the word, and times bygone.

There will be empty glasses and left over food
And sleepless nights just to fool around
There will be reruns of the same crappy TV show
And poetry that flows without the usual bound.

I wish I was the kind that doesn’t give a shit
But I’m a far cry from those lucky ones I swear
I’ll still care for you even if I don’t want to
I’ll still stoop back to your secluded lair.

I hate you and your adoring face
I hate the fact that I am so weak in my skin
I hate how you make me feel unarmed and chained
I hate how you never let me win.

Still I’ll stand somewhere from a distance
I’ll try to utter words I’ve practiced so hard
You may bet I’ll fail for the umpteenth time
And will be hanging round like a lost postcard.

Picture Taker: Antara :)
HAPPY DIWALI guys.
Riaaaaa, Big hug for the Harry Potter pictcha \m/

A post of pictures.

The last Teachers day of school.
5th September. Wrapping up long pretty saris over tired bodies (late night sleep). Teaching classes. Taking in the shizz of the teacher's staff room. Tons of pictures.  Tons of poses. The red roses. The dancing in the class.  The food. The company. The after-party. The CCD madness. The scooty rides. The crazy ass rain. The friends who make you cry and weep and talk shit and then drop you back home. The class, even though how much you hate it at times is so close to your heart that you have no idea how. The moments...one and all.

Chocolate Cake!

*The clatter of flour strewn utensils, the smell of raw eggs, the oh so lovely vanilla essence and the sight of chocolate that makes you dizzy to the core*
Bloggers, readers, dogs, cats, Good people, not so good people....

I-BAKED-A-FREAKIN-CHOCOLATE-CAKE!

And I swear not one person died eating the shit! YAYAYAYA!  I feel like I've climbed the stairs of self actualization!! (not!)

Anyway, I've been pretty much neglecting this little space because of some FIITJEE stuff I have to deal with. Other than that, it's been pretty good..gorging on huge amounts of BnR and getting back on the field with my running shoes on and hanging with the BEST PEOPLE ON THE FACE OF PLANET EARTH.

Give me 2 weeks and I'll be back on track,
Till then here are some random pics that have been lying around; some taken while hanging with Antara, some from Ladakh, and one of my desktop background.

Antara and yours truly on our walk around the campus.

A little tour of Ladakh for you

Dear Readers,
Hope you guys are still there even though its been eons back that I've posted here.
Well, I was busy. Believe me or not! There was this phase test, school exams, annual day prac.
And diwali was great. Made this huge rangoli!

Then we have our annual day on friday which is exciting. So happy times ahead, mate!
Anyway, isn't masterchef superr awesomeee. God, it's so addicting.

Phaltu sab baat choro, Ladakh pics here baby. Check out!

The ever amazing jumping pics, this was @ a monastery in Leh, just beside our guest house.
My personal favorite monastery out there. Monasteries are so calm and peaceful and have this unsaid aura.

Changla pass, 17590 ft. We had to pass through this pass on the way to the pangong lake.
Juley is namaste in Tibetian. The snowy mountains so near felt like I was on top of the world.

The pangong lake. The 3 idiots lake. It's breathtaking. No wonder that last scene was the best :)
The lake was seeing hues of blue my eyes had never laid upon before.

Pangong tso. Pardon me and my dad's eccentric photography. We go nuts :P

These white stupas are strewn all over ladakh. This was at some place near the Hemi's monastery.

Pangong tso. Through glasses yo!
That's 0.0000000001% of ladakh for you. For the rest, stay tuned.

Some time, same place, love always

ps. there's plans of a joint blog with Antara :) hopefully.

Pujooooo

Dear "people who make me happy",

Durga Puja is a few blocks away and I can't stop feeling festive even though the beastly half yearlies are going on.

Durga Puja for me is:
  • Waking up one to the intoxicating fragrance of shiuli phool.
  • Doing the rounds of Pujor bajar ( shopping for the pujas ) and asking the "Pujor Bajar sesh?" question to almost everyone I cross paths with.
  • Craving for months to wake up to a sunny Autumn morning with the sky sketched in white
  • rolling in bed to the mellifluous chants of Mahalaya, baba shouting to me "shuru hoye geche; wake up" (It's started wake up!)
  • Wearing a new dress everday for those 4 days.
  • pandal-hopping till I cross my 100 pandals mark, and not even complaining about the shoe bite.
  • Listening to the dhakis beat and dancing along to it.
  • the unlimited paani puri and the little detours to look for a shop selling mountain dew to boost me up for the long day ahead.
  • The countdown to mahalaya, the star ananda superstar megastar, the annual meetings with ISHA
  • The traditional bengali food - you know the shorshe ilish, potol chingri and all.
  • Durga Puja for me is a reminder that you don't have to pour yourself into books, tuitions, and stupid exams for four whole days. Every year. ( class 11 makes you say these things. I kid not.)  That every woman looks stunning on Dashami after a vermillion bath and that if you go touch the feet of your elders you get 50 ruppee notes that end up to be a pocketful of money.
Here's sharing you a picture of last year's pujo, this was some pandal at kakurgachi.

Durga Puja '10

Watching every pandal with a different theme, pandals so awesome that you stand in awe and wonder how the hell do they do these in such short a time.
There are the traditional pandals which stick to the very conservative pattern they have been following for years, big pandals, the thakur exactly the same each year. It's this similarity that make them even more special.

Then there are the pandals which bring new things, new ideas, mind boggling ones that make you go wow. How in a few months time a total replica of the Egyptian pyramids go up, we have no idea...all we do is stand in queues for hours to catch a glimpse of the creation.

Hope you have an awesome puja as I myself travelling my way through Ladakh. It will be a good one. :)

Till then, in the words of my grandmother, Dugga Dugga.

Quick update

There are books that you wish wouldn't end, books that are so magical that you simple can't leave them astray and even have to carry them along with you while you go to the loo :P And those are the ones that turn out to be the so-called favorite books. And this book my friend is one of a kind.

To the lives of Rosie Dunne and Alex Stewart. I've fallen in love with your story.

Please read the book, you won't be wrong in doing so.

And I got a makeover. They say they can't recognize the new me :P ( appearance wise ) See if you can?

And Ria don't shout at me on the phone...I literally had to keep my set a metre away and isn't this a lovely forum to talk crap with you! :D

And SHANKHA if you're reading this, I am 100% normal!

And guys out there, tune in, comment and get bored because I have nothing to offer. And BLUE PERIWINKLE, write on your blog babe! Do it now.

I will come up with something productive next time...till then bare with me
